Requirement for Diploma in Emergency Medical Care:
- Grade 12 with admission to a Diploma or equivalent with an average of 50% and in the case of a Vocational National certificate an average of 50% is required.
- If you are currently in Grade 11, submit your year-end results for Grade 11.
- Candidates with relevant EMS experience can apply for RPL.
National senior certificate
• Physical science – NQF Level 4 with a minimum of 40%
• Mathematics – NQF Level 4 with the minimum of 40% or
• English communication skills – NQF Level 4 with the minimum of 40%
• South African citizenship
National Vocational certificate
• Physical science – NQF Level 4 with a minimum of 50%
• Mathematics – NQF Level 4 with a minimum of 50% or
• English communication skills – NQF Level 4 with a minimum of 50%
• South African citizenship
Recognition of Prior Learning minimum requirements
• Grade 12 with an aggregate of 950 marks and above
• Be 25 years and older
• Be a registered Ambulance Emergency Assistant (AEA) with the HPCSA
• Have a minimum of 5 years operational experience
• Be currently employed by an Emergency Medical Services
Requirements for Diploma in Operating Department Assistance:
Grade 12 with admission to higher certificate or equivalent with an average of 50%; Old certificate: D-aggregate (950 marks).
If you are currently in Grade 11, submit your year-end results for Grade 11.
National Senior certificate
• Any science subject – NQF Level 4 with the minimum of 40% (e.g. Life Science, physical science, and biology)
• Mathematics – NQF Level 4 with the minimum of 40% or
• Mathematics Literacy – NQF Level 4 with a minimum of 50%
• English communication skills – NQF Level 4 with the minimum of 40%
• South African citizenship
