The following are the Requirements to study Nursing in South Africa. All prospective nursing students are to make sure that they meet the necessary requirements in order to gain admission into their chosen schools.
There are several routes that can be taken to become a qualified nurse in South Africa, and they include;
A four-year bachelor’s degree in nursing
The requirements for this are:
A National Senior Certificate (NSC) or an equivalent of exit level4, with subjects in Mathematics, Life Orientation First additional language, physical sciences and life sciences
A three-year diploma
National Senior Certificate (NSC) equivalent qualification at exit 3 or 4
Subjects include English, life orientation, first additional or home language and four other subjects (all with grades of 50-59%)
A one-year higher certificate in auxiliary nursing
A one-year postgraduate advance diploma in nursing and midwifery
